The compact Tucson crossover has been refreshed for the 2019 model year, with upgrades inside and out, including a new cascading grille, lights, redesigned wheels, a seven-inch display audio system and more advanced safety features. The biggest change lies under the hood. While the 161-hp 2.0-litre GDI four-cylinder is retained, the turbocharged 1.6L GDI four-cylinder and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission has been dropped, replaced with a 184-hp, naturally aspirated 2.4L four. Both engines are coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual shifting and overdrive lock-up torque converter. Inside, alterations consist of a new centre stack design. On the features front, there’s standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, available Qi wireless charging and second-row USB charger. Safety-wise, Hyundai adds forward collision-avoidance assist and a multi-view camera system to an already full list of things to keep the vehicle pointed in the proper direction and its occupants unharmed.
